Mission Statement
Each student will experience successful learning through a school effort to become a responsible member of a changing society.

Robotics, a new after-school program, was introduced at the beginning of this school year.  Gertrude Walker was one of several elementary schools given the opportunity to add this program.  The program challenges students to work on STEM related problem solving by building and operating robots.  This year's teams consist of fourth graders.  These students were selected using results of state assessments, class assessments, assignment completion and scores, behavior referrals and teacher recommendations.  The students work together as a team after school to build and operate their robots.  The teams will attend several meets where they join other teams to work towards the goal of using their robots to move objects to specific locations on a playing field.  It ahs been a challenging, learning and fun experience this year and we are hoping that next year will be even better.
